Ron has been sharing a Friday update on Facebook over the past few weeks. Because some of readers may not be members of Facebook, I have posted Ron’s update for November 28, 2014. ~ Joni
It’s so astonishing how rapidly these weeks flash by! And when there’s a Holiday included it seems the time disappears like socks into a dryer! We hope your Thanksgiving Holiday was definitely Blessed in ways which surprised you. I have come to understand there are times when it is good to be surprised by what God is accomplishing in our lives. I think its even better when He allows us to see how He has made a difference in the life of someone else as He has been making a difference in us. To me that is one of the coolest things about being in Grace. Not only is God transforming us, He is also infiltrating the lives of those we come in contact with making a difference in them!
I think some might be uncomfortable with the word “infiltrating” in connection with how God works. Expressly as it impacts humanity and the Gift of Free Will. Freedom is our God given birthright, our right to choose whether we want to connect with God or not! However, it does not preclude God from seeking to save us from that which will destroy us! Basically, ourselves and the choices we make.
In Psalm 32:8 God tells us this, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with my eye.” (NKJV) If we want to know what is next in our lives God says ask. Then if God tells us to ask Him for Guidance we need to listen. Doesn’t that naturally follow asking anyone a question of inquiry? If we are serious about an answer we need to listen! How do we know it’s Gods voice speaking to us? Ask Him to make that clear, very clear! God is not into playing games about communicating with us! As the verse tells us, there will always be an answer. It might be Yes, or it might be No, or it might be Wait, or to might be ________, (He will fill in the blank).
Personally, I believe I have over the years made it more difficult to hear Him than it’s been about Him speaking! God speaks through His Word the Bible, through dreams, visions, the words of a Godly friend, a sermon, a devotional, there so many ways God will choose to speak. However, remember as He taught Elijah, it is most often in that Still Small Voice that whispers in you.
I know God answers because He tells us He answers, and God doesn’t lie! Remember, God doesn’t, never has, will never, lie to you, me, or anyone else! That’s one way you can definitely know the Voice/Word of God there will be no Lie in His words! So when God continues in Psalm 32:9 with, “Do not be like the horse or like the mule, who have no understanding, Which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, else they will not come near you.” (NKJV)
One day I will share with you the story of a horse, me and how the horse refused to respond to the “bit and bridle” nearly killing us both! And if we are unwilling to listen to the voice of God as He seeks to instruct us, we are like horses and mules that refuse to respond to the Bit and Bridle. And a horse or a mule that refuse to respond are worthless, they are of no value to anyone! Well, they do have a value, but I will refrain from mentioning that Dark Side.
Here’s something for your week-end/post holiday days! God is always seeking to, as we used to say long ago, Rap, talk, converse, be in conversation! And He isn’t waiting for you to initiate the exchange, Revelation 3 tells He is standing at your door, my door knocking, asking to come in! That’s not a picture of someone waiting for us to make the first move. And lets not forget what God has already done for us, has already invested in us, so much that it is just plain silly to think He is waiting for us to make the first move on Him!
Today has become known as Black Friday, this isn’t the only Friday declared to be a Black Friday. However the others have been Black Fridays with a completely different set of circumstances. This is proclaimed as the biggest shopping day of the year, this Black Friday is when businesses make their most profits. Therefore causing them to finish their financial year in the BLACK. It is the day which best symbolically proclaims the Lust of our culture and society. This day had hardly begun when there were already injuries, deaths, and for what?
There was another Black Friday which best symbolically proclaims the Love of our Creator. There was an injury and a Death and for What? For all of the Human Race that, “All who would believe on Jesus Christ would have Everlasting Life. This reality is because God loves us so much He chose Death rather than live without us!
It appears this day also kicks of the official Christmas Season. And as such, as Black Friday reminds us what God paid for us, so we can contemplate what Jesus was willing to experience on His way to that infamous day. It’s a time to meditate on the Words He spoke, the acts He accomplished, the Lives He touched, the way He treated all peoples!
So, once more We pray that your Thanksgiving was truly filled with Thanks. We pray that as all our lives transition into this next Holiday Season, so will our Hearts and Minds transition into all the Holy Spirit is Gifting to each one of us!
And as always we praise God for His Process of Grace making all things possible! And we praise God for each and everyone one of you, especially for the prayers you lift on our behalf, thank-you!
Grace in Process,
Ron and Joni
